It’s also a simple, low-cost way for you to try our unique material. Once you love it, we have bigger styles too! The hats were invented in the USA over a 5-year period. They are now handcrafted at our own Mexico atelier by artisans trained personally by the founder.

The hats are very light weight and have a big brim, so they can be blown off in extremely windy conditions. A tie ribbon is included when necessary but in most cases, simply wearing the hat straight or tilted down, and then slightly tilting your head downward during gusts will generally prevent the brim from catching the wind.

These hats are made from two kinds of Coated EVA. A softer material is used around the head and a more structured material is used for the brim. Coated EVA is commonly found in sneakers, yoga mats, and knee/helmet pads. It feels very similar to a soft, cushiony memory foam and is very comfortable.

No. This material does not absorb and transmit heat the way plastic and leather do. Coated EVA is an insulating material which means that the hat may get warm on top but stays cool underneath where it makes contact with the head. Even the black hats stay comfortable!

While the hat can NOT be rolled up, the material is very soft and flexible. We recommend packing around the hat. If the hat does get bent or crushed during travel, it will crease initially but the creasing will fade and become almost invisible and the hat will retain its shape and be totally usable.

Cleaning is easy with mild soap and water... wipe dry to avoid water spots. Alternatively, you can use Windex with Vinegar or alcohol wipes to spot clean. We recommend removing chlorine and sunscreen stains as soon as possible.

One premium "NoSweat Co" band is inserted in every hat to absorb perspiration. These last for months and even years of daily use and can be reordered on Amazon or on the company's website when needed. If the band gets wet in the pool, it will simply dry and be usable again. Use Goo Gone to remove any adhesive that sticks to the hat when changing the band.

All hats have a stretchy ribbon closure that allows the hat to stretch to fit. For small heads simply overlap the holes in the back and tie the ribbon through them. This is for heads measuring 21 inches. The hat can fit heads measuring from 21 inches to 25 inches.

YES! These hats are 100% waterproof and will float. They can also be used in the rain. Tropical destinations where the weather alternates between rain and sun frequently throughout the day is ideal for these hats because they are not affected by water at all.

The bands are made of thin but durable decorative fibers like hemp and bamboo. We attached the fibers to the hat with a sealing material and then use acrylic paint to create an elegant border.
